The stage is set for the 3rd annual Holiday Festival of Trees. The curtain goes up at noon on Sunday, December 7th, at the CU Stadium Club, atop Folsom Field on the CU-Boulder campus. The event raises funds for Meals on Wheels of Boulder and the Rotary Club of Boulder Flatirons.
This year’s event features nearly 50 trees to be raffled off, representing a wide range and variety, many of them returning for the third year. New this year: you must be present to win and trees should be claimed and removed by 4 p.m.
Last year’s money trees were a huge hit and this year there will be at least four trees adorned with holiday greenery, the kind you can take to the bank! There are several trees loaded with spa gift certificates and luxury beauty items; others bear the weight of hundreds of dollars of gift certificates to local restaurants and night spots; and the incredibly popular “Pedestrian Shops Comfortable Shoe” tree stands ready for an encore.
This year’s silent auction features such treasures as a Boulder Flatirons pendant richly detailed in 14 karat yellow gold from Walters & Hogsett Fine Jewelers; a tanzanite pendant from Hurdle’s Jewelry; vacation condos; original works of art; several golf foursomes at private clubs; a closet makeover from Closet and Storage Concepts of Colorado; winter gear from Spyder Active Sports; a Stack of Steaks from Safeway; getaways to Niwot and Estes Park and 40-plus other valuable items.
Entertainment will be provided for the third year by the Fairview High School Madrigal singers under the direction of James Heller. New this year are chair massages provided by Café of Life and a Boulder caricature artist, William Porter, both at no extra charge to guests.
The tree raffle drawing and silent auction closing are at 2:30 p.m. Admission is $50 per person and includes the tree raffle and five $2 raffle tickets, silent auction, holiday brunch buffet, entertainment and parking. Tickets will be available at the door.
