The members of the Boulder Force Independiente soccer team (6th Graders) raised $1400 for "Soccer In The Wilderness", a program organized by Children In The Wilderness, a non-profit organization in seven southern African countries that hosts vulnerable, rural children. Ben Bressler, the team's coach and owner of Natural Habitat Adventures, requested that in lieu of a thank you gift this year, the team parents donate money to the Soccer in the Wilderness event. The team decided to hold a fundraiser to honor Coach Ben, who has coached the team since the boys were in kindergarden. The money raised will be used to help pay for a kids' soccer tournament to be held in January in rural Botswana. At the end of the season party, the Independiente team presented Coach Ben with the donations, and they were treated to an opportunity to kick against, and scrimmage with, Fredrik ("Freddie") Danielson, a professional soccer player in Sweden who is in Boulder visiting family. Special thanks to Freddie for his participation, and to Peter Ambrose, of Boulder Indoor Soccer and the Futsol facility. The Independiente team want to challenge other teams with the Boulder Force to raise money for this and other events.
