local women honored byZonta Foothills's Club On International Women's Day

On March 6th, the Zonta Foothills Club of Boulder will deliver yellow roses to some 14 women who exemplify the Zonta mission. To advance the status of women worldwide. March 8th, Sunday, is internatrional women's Day which is a time to celebrate acts of courage and service by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of women's rights. Zontiians have a tradition of giving tribute to such women in their communities with the Zonta yellow rose.
Some of the Boulder county women to be honored are:
Krista Butler of the University of Colorado Foundation
State Representative, Dianne Primavera, of district 33. She has worked for more than 40 years to promote healthe care of Colorado citizens.
Dorothy Bustamante, NCAR administrator, a community activist on the YMCA Board, the Boulder County Latina Women's League and Community Action Program Board.
Liz Oster, once a victim of domestic violence, she began Courage in Change, a non profit to end abuse and violence by empowering its victims.
Shawn Powell, a volunteer of Safehouse Women's Shelter. Shawn works the overnight shift on Saturday nights, as no one else wants the weekends. She reaches out to everyone.
Linda Shoemaker, a philanthropist, who started the Brett Family foundation to address the needs of underserved communities in Boulder County.
Erika Stutzman, Editorial Page Editor, of the Daily Camera. She has "risen through the ranks" and regularly writes columns and articles advocating rights for women.
Janine D'Anniballe, Executive Director for 10 years of MESA (Movement to End Sexual Assault) and is now head of Access, Emergency and Community Services.
Joan Raderman, Founder of Circle of Care, a nonprofit that helps the aging in our community.
Beth Osnes and Joellen Raderstorf of MAU, Mother's Acting Up, a group mobilizing mothers to advocate on behalf of the world's children.
Wendy Pearson is the program director of the Teen Parenting Program at Fairview/ Amy Carlough is the nurse coordinator and Leslie Boyhan, the program nurse.
