Magician Attempts to Drive Car While Blindfolded

Witness it at 6:00 p.m. today at Promenade Shops at Centerra

Magician Jack Stephens, producer of and a performer in the show Masters of Magic (www.mastersofmagictheshow.com) will attempt to navigate the roads in and around the Promenade Shops at Centerra in Loveland today – this Thursday evening, at 6:00 p.m. – while blindfolded.

Stephens will be double-blindfolded, using blindfolds verified by spectators, to ensure his vision is completely cut off. He will then climb behind the wheel of a car provided by Highline Motors (www.highlineweb.com) of Fort Collins and try to steer the car through the streets of Centerra, using only the unspoken thoughts of his passengers, including Loveland businessman (www.lovelandinsurance.com) and City Council candidate Bob Snyder, as a guide.

The challenging stunt will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23 in front of Starbucks Coffee at the Promenade Shops at Centerra, just east of I-25 at Highway 34.

“Driving a real car while completely unable to see is a very dangerous illusion,” said Jack Stephens, 32, who grew up in Denver and attended University of Colorado. “I love demonstrations of the impossible, and that is what our show, Masters of Magic, is all about – helping people to realize that almost anything is possible.”

Members of the public will be chosen to help confirm that the blindfolds and car used in the stunt are authentic, and to set up obstacles in locations of their choosing to make the stunt even more challenging. Passengers will ride along in the car, but will not be allowed to give spoken verbal directions.

“This is magic in a very raw form – no special tricks, nobody helping me out. It’s just me and the car and my ability to use the powers of the mind to try and do something totally amazing," said Stephens.

Donations will be accepted for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County. Cast members of Masters of Magic will be on hand to assist in the festivities and to perform close-up magic for the crowd. A drawing for a free family 4-pack of tickets to Masters of Magic will be held.

Masters of Magic returns to northern Colorado after a successful engagement at Loveland’s Rialto Theater last summer. This high-energy stage show features magic and illusion performed by a cast of magicians from around the United States. Audiences will witness grand illusion, sleight of hand, exotic birds, mind reading and more.

The show opens with an evening performance on July 24 at 7:30 p.m., followed by a performance on July 25 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are on sale now, and are $20 for adults and $16 for students, children, and seniors. The VIP Magical Experience ticket, sold out for the Saturday performance, is available for $30 for Friday night, and includes premium seating, a souvenir backstage pass, poster, water bottle and a private meet & greet with the magicians. They may be purchased in person at the Rialto Theater Box Office, online at www.mastersofmagictheshow.com, or by phone at (970) 962-2120. Use code "Flyer2" to get a $2 discount per ticket
