Meals on Wheels of Boulder selected for inclusion on GivingFirst.org

Meals on Wheels of Boulder has been approved by Community First Foundation, a Denver-based nonprofit, to be included on their website GivingFirst.org.

GivingFirst.org is an online resource that features hundreds of Colorado charities. Visitors to the site can learn about their programs, how they are helping our community, and donate online directly to organizations such as Meals on Wheels of Boulder.

Donors can make a donation to Meals on Wheels of Boulder simply by visiting www.mowboulder.org and clicking on the “Donate Now” link.  Or visit www.GivingFirst.org and enter Meals on Wheels of Boulder in the search field.  

GivingFirst.org is a year-round site for donating to approved nonprofits in Colorado. An annual event presented by Community First Foundation and FirstBank is Colorado Gives Day, an initiative to increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. It will take place during a 24-hour period on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Donations will be accepted through the website GivingFirst.org, with a goal to inspire and unite Coloradans in supporting local nonprofits.  Last year, a total of $8.7 million was distributed to Colorado nonprofits. 

Francea Phillips, executive director of Meals on Wheels of Boulder, said, “Because of the generosity of  Community First Foundation, FirstBank and other foundations, no fees are charged for online donations on Colorado Gives Day; 100% of your donation comes to Meals on Wheels of Boulder and is put to work helping bring food to our Boulder neighbors in need.”

GivingFirst.org is made possible by Community First Foundation, a Denver-based nonprofit. As part of their mission to encourage philanthropy in our communities, the Foundation covers processing fees* on donations made through GivingFirst.org. (*up to $50,000 in 2011 per organization)

Meals on Wheels of Boulder was founded in 1969 and is a locally administered and funded not-for-profit organization serving residents of Boulder.  Meals on Wheels of Boulder receives no federal or state funding.  Its clients include individuals of all ages and economic abilities who may be confined to their homes for any reason, including recovery from surgery, an illness or long- or short-term disabilities.  It has provided more than 1.7 million meals since its founding.
