Each year, New Frontier Media, Inc., a Boulder based transactional television and international distributor of independent and general motion picture entertainment, makes a number of modest but meaningful donations to deserving local charities in an effort to give back to the community that it has been an active participant in since its formation in 1995. The company, which has 137 Colorado employees, recently announced its decision to sponsor 6 horses that are in need of special rehabilitative care through Colorado Horse Rescue. The company recognized that, during this recession, animals are abandoned, neglected and sometimes abused in record numbers and charitable organizations like Colorado Horse Rescue desperately need financial support from companies like New Frontier Media in order to continue providing such important humanitarian services to these animals in need. The company selected Colorado Horse Rescue because of its absolute dedication to the well being of horses in Colorado and because of its proximity to the company’s offices in Boulder.

New Frontier Media took a novel approach in selecting 6 horses to sponsor out of the numerous horses that are unfortunately still awaiting adoption or sponsorship at CHR. The company divided its local workforce into 6 teams, appointed team captains and asked each team member to review the profiles of the available horses and vote on the horse they wished their team to sponsor. The teams selected the following horses this year: “Happy”, “Oreo”, “Bebe”, “Suede”, “Chico” and “Justice”. The company implemented this collaborative process in order for its employees to take a more active role in the company’s annual charitable efforts and to better understand the unfortunate predicament many animals are experiencing in the United States, including right here in our community. During the year, each team captain will be responsible for disseminating information and photographs of their sponsored horse to their team members which the company hopes will serve to continue employee awareness on the positive impact of charitable giving. Employees will also from time to time arrange to visit their team’s horse at Colorado Horse Rescue’s facilities in Longmont. Team captain Andy Lewis, the company’s Director of Security and Compliance, has already made plans to visit his team’s sponsored horse this weekend with his wife and to offer additional assistance to Colorado Horse Rescue in the near future. Andy’s team selected “Oreo”, a 31 year old black and white Paint who came to Colorado Horse Rescue very malnourished but who is now thriving in Colorado Horse Rescue’s “senior center” pasture along with other retired horses. Other New Frontier Media employees have also expressed their support of this great program. Damian Jordan, a content operations coordinator, said “it is very satisfying to know that our hard work is benefitting a positive cause and that we work for a company that is giving back to the community even in times of such severe economic hardship.”
