My 9yr old, Jake,  plays for BYFA, this is his 5th year in this orginization(3yrs flag, 2 yrs tackle). I am so proud of him. He's been through alot in the last 3yrs, mainly, being diagnosed with a non-curable disease called Eosinophilic Esophagitis(EoE). He was taken off all foods for almost year. He had an NG-tube placed, then later a G-tube. He's had to battle both physically and mentally against this disease, a disease that has robbed him of simple enjoyments, things we take for granted every day...being able to eat. Over the last 3yrs, he's trialed over 20 foods, only passing 4. He only has 4 foods to eat. But he's doing fabulous. Jake is my hero. He has never given up on his dreams, never given up on life, he gets up each day and faces it like he should. We do have bad days, EoE can cause very severe pain, his body wages war on food, and it's the battle inside that harms him, causes damage to his own body. But he never gives up.

I am posting a pic of Jake doing a tube feeding at the half time of his football game. Jake is a fighter. He does get embarassed, but hopefully he will see what I see...a hero.

He plays for the Dragons(mini's tackle, BYFA)
