The Quarter Fund, a group of people in their 20s that meets every few months to give money to a deserving cause, met on Dec. 13 to decide what to do with a $500 grant.

The Quarter Fund met on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Gravity Brewing. If you weren’t able to make it say because your rope got stuck while climbing the third flat iron or perhaps things during the meeting got a little hazy after that second 11% Saison, no worries. Here’s a quick refresher for everyone on what went down.

They decided to be diplomatic and voted to split our $500 grant between the Boulder County AIDS Project (BCAP) and TLC Learning Center (TLC-LC).

BCAP sought funding to cover the cost of food and transportation related to their annual retreat.

TLC-LC requested funds for a rocking chair and a mini fridge to make their new lactation room more accommodating.

Their next focus area will be specific to the topic of healthcare, which also encompasses mental health. Start thinking of organizations you would be excited to receive a video proposal from!

We agreed that imposing a time limit of one minute and 30 seconds on future video proposals would be better for everyone. Organizations will be asked to submit a one sentence written summary of their mission and request alongside their video submissions going forward. We might also rewrite our solicitation for proposals in such a way that discourages a high volume of generic iPad requests.

Julie and others will begin planning for a happy hour that will take place in February to promote our grant making and recruit new members in a low pressure setting.

The next grant making meeting will most likely occur in early February so that we can get our funding decisions to
coincide with the end of fiscal quarters. A potential site for the next
meeting is the new Avery’s headquarters located in Gunbarrel, which theoretically opens January 2015.
