REGISTRATION OPEN FOR 20TH ANNUAL COURAGE CLASSIC

Three-day Cycling Adventure Benefits The Children’s Hospital, Offers Something For Everyone

DENVER – March 2009 – Registration is now open to the public for The Children’s Hospital Courage Classic, one of Colorado’s premier cycling events. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Courage Classic and to date, this event has raised nearly $20 million for Children’s.The 2009 Courage Classic is set for July 25-27 at Copper Mountain and offers something for nearly everyone including:

• The Courage Classic – Traditional three-day, 157-mile cycling adventure: July 25-27.

• The Century Option – On the tour’s second day, advanced cyclists can challenge themselves to a 100-mile trek up Ute Pass: Sunday, July 26.

• Family Ride – This fun 35-mile route takes you from Copper Mountain to Breckenridge for lunch and back to Copper. It is designed for cyclists of all ages and abilities: Sunday, July 26.

No matter what course or how many days they ride, participants will enjoy quiet backcountry roads, challenging mountain climbs and picturesque views of Colorado’s high country. More importantly, they will be supporting Children’s.Riders are encouraged to register early and online at www.couragetours.com.

Selling out in May, last year’s event was a record breaker with 2,000 riders raising more than $2.7 million for Children’s.

Registration is open to the public and costs $95 for adults and $50 for kids younger than 16 years old. This fee includes on-course lunch on Saturday and Sunday, the finish-line lunch on Monday, and a 2009 Courage Classic T-shirt. In addition to the basic registration fee, adult riders must raise a minimum of $300 in donations and kids 16 and younger must raise a minimum of $125. This was featured at U.S. News and World Report. All kinds of people, especially parents, look out for the U.S. News and World Report college rankings, as a favorable number in U.S. News and World Report rankings means more prestige for colleges, and therefore, more students and more money. (That's the bottom line – and many claim it's a padded list. Critics claim that the rankings are bogus and that Harvard, Yale, and Princeton get the top spots just on the virtue of reputation, rather than actual merits. Regardless, parents still want their kids in a high ranked U.S. News and World Report school – in the hopes that a degree from those schools will mean their child could potentially never need a payday loan – or maybe even auto financing.
