Rotary: Families honored for hosting 22 exchange students

BOULDER – Two Boulder families were honored as Quiet Heroes by Boulder Rotary Club this month for their roles in hosting Rotary Youth Exchange students for many years.

Rotary President Peter Ewing presented the awards to Annie and George Noble and to Nancy and Scott Stocker.

The Nobles, neither of whom are Rotarians, have been hosts and proxy parents to seven high school age Rotary Youth Exchange students. They will be hosting an eighth this year.

Nancy Stocker, a longtime Rotarian, has chaired the Boulder club's Youth Exchange Committee for five years, and is also a member of the District Youth Exchange Committee. Nancy and her husband, Scott, have hosted 15 exchange students they have hosted over the years. In addition, for the last four years – and for a fifth coming up – they have chaperoned an annual two-week bus tour of the West for all the District's exchange students each spring.

The Quiet Hero award is given from time to time by the Rotary Club to those whose activities, usually carried out over a long period and without fanfare, make our community and our world better places.
