BOULDER – Five teachers from Boulder Valley schools have been honored as Quiet Heroes by the Boulder Rotary Club.

The five are Laurie Brockway, teacher librarian at Bear Creek Elementary School; Devorah Detloff, ESL teacher at Arapahoe Ridge High School; Jeri Eurich, special education teacher at Crestview Elementary School; Sue Kidder, kindergarten to second grade teacher at Gold Hill Elementary School, one of two teachers at tiny mountain school; and Bill Smith, third grade teacher at Douglass Elementary School.

They received plaques from Rotarian Francie Anhut noting that they share Rotary’s commitment to service, children and education. All five were honored by Impact on Education as this year’s Impact Award winners. Anhut is executive director of the organization.

Donations were made by Rotary in the name of each teacher to purchase 100 doses of polio vaccine through Rotary’s Polio Plus program.
