The Villas at The Atrium, an exceptional independent senior community in North Boulder, hosted a Bridge Tournament Saturday, August 22, 2009, from 1 to 4pm as a charity event to raise funds and awareness for RSVP of Boulder County, a nonprofit organization that provides free Safety-Net Services and volunteer opportunities to promote the security, independence and comfort of seniors and adults with disabilities. This event was sponsored by the Boulder business community.
Approximately 70 players of all ages arrived eagerly early to play the game of bridge. After the welcome and announcement of the rules of the game from the Boulder Bridge Chapter of ACBL, the only sounds during the tournament were light slaps of playing cards shuffling together. Several door prizes were awarded via drawings throughout the tournament, ranging from Starbucks certificates, beauty makeovers, restaurant certificates, including the Cork Restaurant and a golf package from Lake Valley.
