Spaghetti Dinner to help rebuild Four Mile Canyon fire station

Boulder, Colorado -- Girl Scout Troop 2694 of Superior, Colorado is hosting a spaghetti dinner fund raiser to rebuild the Four Mile Canyon fire station that burned down in the Four Mile Canyon wild fire. It will be held at the Cornerstone Church, 1190 South Lashley Lane, Boulder, CO 80305 on Saturday, November 6, from 5 – 8 pm.  Tickets are $10 for ages 11+, and $5 for ages 10 and younger. All proceeds go directly to the fire department.  Cash and checks will be accepted, no credit cards.

Girl Scout Troop 2694 enjoys nature and service projects. The girls toured the fire station that was reduced to ashes and decided to help rebuild the firehouse. To that end, they created a plan to host a spaghetti dinner, with donations going directly to the Four Mile Canyon Fire Department.  Generous donations were received from local businesses Noodles and Company, Whole Foods, Eldorado Natural Spring Water, and Panera Bread.  Cornerstone Church graciously donated space in which to hold the event.

The girls hope to sell 200 tickets, and intend to help with revegetation and reforestation efforts in the spring in the burned area. The girls have deep ties to the Four Mile community—Girl Scout Tatiana Follett’s grandfather was the first fire chief of Four Mile Canyon, and her other set of grand parents experienced property losses secondary to the fire.  Some of the girls have family, friends and teachers that lost their homes as well.

The Troop loves to ski, hike, climb, and raft, and is made up of 7^th and 8^th graders in the Superior area.  The Troop has a long history of service projects, including adopting a local nursing home, and conducts an annual Earth Day clean up of a local pond. The Troop is known for its extreme commitment to all things outdoors, and for its sense of fun and community.
