If you, or someone you know, suffered abuse as a child, or lived with an alcoholic parent, or endured the divorce of your parents...or any other kind of trauma, you might be surprised to be told that you may be carrying spiritual wounds that you don't recognize, but that are affecting your life, even as an adult. Or maybe you are not surprised--but don't know where to turn for help in healing those wounds. Mary's Hope Workshops (
www.marsyhope.org) can help.
St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, Boulder, CO, is sponsoring two healing events presented by Mary's Hope Workshops. These programs are designed for adult survivors of childhood abuse and trauma, and those who work with them: clergy, spiritual directors, therapists, family, friends. "Spiritual Healing and Recovery Workshop" is a 7 hour course designed to give attendees a common language about spiritual wounds, knowledge about the distorted or even arrested spiritual development of the abused child, and knowledge about how to facilitate healing. "Journey into Recovery: A Silent Retreat" is an intensely personal 5.5 hour day of music, slide show, reflections and silence designed to invite the participant to journey with Jesus along a path to healing and wholeness.
