My mother and I are in hope that you will publish our deep concerns over the Larimer County Commissioners unreasonable demands upon W.O.L.F. Sanctuary in La Porte CO. My opinion and that of my mother's, is that there are land grabs on the table by a few wealthy individuals who want the area rezoned for commercial interests. This seems to us the reason for the Commissioners' illogical and wrongful decisions...We do urgently request your help in this matter!I have written to the Larimer County Commissioners to not schedule a show-cause hearing to potentially revoke the W.O.L.F. special review approval. This seems a severe exaggeration considering the basis for this revocation is - fencing - located on W.O.L.F.'s property and is not even in use! The County Land Use Code is very specific, in section 8.16.Fences; that “agricultural uses are exempt from fence permits”. W.O.L.F. is classified and certified as a Pet Animal Care Facility - which is clearly listed as agricultural usage. As such, what basis can the Commissioners show to make these unreasonable demands?W.O.L.F. had applied for an Amended Special Review to expand the Sanctuary from 5 acres to 35 acres on their 180 acre property. After 7 + years, they received not a single complaint against them nor any violations to the conditions placed upon them by the County of Larimer. W.O.L.F. was confident that their request would be approved thinking that historical facts would outweigh personal prejudice. W.O.L.F. further believed that if the county did not allow for more animals, the new enclosures would accommodate some of the animals in smaller areas.W.O.L.F. has met the county's demands, going above and beyond the rules placed upon them which even included the removal of animals from their Sanctuary. Removing the extra fencing would take substantial time and money, which this small nonprofit does not have, nor could possibly be raised from its contributor base in these failing economic times. True sanctuaries adhere to the law, as W.O.L.F. has done. They are licensed by the state, and usually by the USDA. They are classified by the IRS as a non profit 501 c 3 charities. They are licensed by the state to solicit donations, and every piece of solicitation that you will read, from print to web site; will have documentation of their true licensing. Not only have they adhered to these laws - W.O.L.F. IS a world-renowned Sanctuary and Charity for its animals – they are an educational means to the public - a public service! The publics’ view is that the Commissioners are intentionally looking for an argument to close down the facility, permanently. This seems to also be a violation of human rights; the rights of the Founders to be allowed to continue their community service, providing aid to and the healing of the animals in their care, while bringing education about wolf-dogs and wolves to the public! Please, stop this discrimination and the unrealistic demands that Larimer County is placing on the W.O.L.F. Sanctuary and allow W.O.L.F. to continue their good works as well as their American right to continue to have open this Sanctuary for the Wolves!
