Fourteen schools competed in the Boulder Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competition on Saturday, February 7, 2009, with the Summit Middle School team winning first place. Eldorado K-8 School and Peak to Peak Charter School won second and third place, respectively. The top two teams will advance to the state competition, to take place on March 21 at the University of Denver.
The top ten individuals were: Albert Soh (Summit MS), Jesse Zhang (Summit MS), Kevin Chen (Summit MS), Henry Zhang (Twin Peaks), Kyle Christensen (Summit MS), Larry Zhang (Summit MS), Jay Kranzdorf (Summit MS), Siyang Sun (Eldorado K-8), Nathan Lazarus (Alexander Dawson) and Andy Ross (Peak to Peak). The following students also qualified for the state competition: Caitlyn Lee (Summit MS), Riley Xu (Eldorado K-8), Mehmed Erkocevic (Eldorado K-8), Jacob Anderson (Lyons MS), Joshua Mundinger (Centennial MS), Ryan Tabler (Centennial MS), Eric Walker (Eldorado K-8), and Danny Wright (Eldorado K-8).
