John Tayer (left), pictured here with his wife Molly (right), was honored with the 2009 Penfield Tate Humanitarian Award from The Family Learning Center, a Boulder non-profit dedicated to encouraging successful lifelong learning and economic self-sufficiency for families of diverse cultures and limited incomes.

Tayer received the award for his outstanding contributions to the Boulder community. He accepted the award at the 15th annual Penfield Tate Humanitarian Dinner & Auction, held on Friday night at CU's Stadium Club in Boulder.

The annual Penfield Tate Humanitarian Award was created by The Family Learning Center to honor the legacy of the late Penfield Tate, a former mayor of Boulder and civil rights lawyer.

All Family Learning Center fundraising efforts directly support its early childhood programs, school age programs, adult education, community support and technology and literacy programs for more than 1,200 low-income children and their families in Boulder.
