The Connection Drop-in Youth Center Reopens for School Year

BROOMFIELD, CO—High school teens need a positive environment to retreat to after school. The Connection Youth Drop-In Center is an organization that offers just that—a place where teens are given the opportunity to be themselves in a safe environment. Located at 545 West 10^th Avenue in Broomfield, The Connection is open for high school teens during and after-school hours of 1PM–5PM Monday–Friday. We officially reopened on August 22^nd.

Among the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers of The Connection, many years of experience working with youth are at the disposal of high school teens in the Broomfield community. The daily program and structure are targeted towards the interests of the youth that the center serves. Whether it is the improvement of academic skills, development of vocational skills, participation in hobbies, involvement in community service projects, or watching movies and playing games, The Connection offers it all.

Besides this, The Connection serves for a place where the youth can be heard. Our staff and volunteers are there for the students if there are topics that need to be talked about. We have a writing center for journaling as well as an art station for a student to express them selves. We have learned that students are unique therefore we provide many outlets for them to manifest themselves and grow.

The Connection will have weekly outreach events, community service opportunities, and guest speakers from the community who can offer useful information to the youth. Our previous guests have included bands like Cooler than Kyle and Rapids soccer player, Wells Thompson. We have also participated with Project Angel Heart.
