A few years ago, health and fitness leaders in Lafayette came together with a goal: to create a wellness center with advanced practitioners to support the vitality and health of the community. The Silos Wellness Center at 816 E. Baseline Road is the result of that planning. The Silos offers massage, acupuncture, Pilates, yoga, barre, dance and personal training. Located on the site of the former Lafayette Feed and Grain property, the center overlooks three historic silos.
Taylor Howe-Fahlstrom, co-owner of Rocky Mountain Pilates and The Studio at Silos located in the wellness center, said all of the participating businesses have operated in Lafayette for years. “The Silos Wellness Center brings together established, local health and wellness organizations under one roof. We’re coming together to provide a community resource to benefit individuals and the community,” she said.
Housing Rocky Mountain Pilates, the Inner Ocean Center for Healing, Bodywork for Liberation, The Studio at Silos, F.I.T. Solutions and personal training options, and the nonprofit Inner Ocean Empowerment Project, the 8,000 square-foot building incorporates Covid-19 precautions in its construction. Howe-Fahlstrom said the ventilation system moves air out and fresh air in frequently, and all spaces have operable windows to let fresh air in. “Treatment rooms have exhaust fans and HEPA filter air purifiers, and two staircases allow one-way travel to prevent crowding on stairways,” she said.
Howe-Fahlstrom said all of the businesses located at The Silos are committed to strict Covid-19 precautions for client safety. “Appointment and class times have been adjusted to minimize the number of people in any one area and make time for disinfection protocols,” she said.
