The New Year and January mark the time for Coal Creek elementary in Louisville to host its annual Geography and Spelling Bees for its student body.
On January 8, fifth-grader Andy Nelson of Lafayette claimed the top title his second one, for the school's Geography Bee. Runner-up was fourth-grader Joey Peoria. OnJanuary 16,Coal Creek held its Spelling Bee with fourth-graderElyssa Hofgard of Louisville claiming top honors.Fifth-graders Timmy Celano, Ryan Nickles and Emmy Strongwater rounded out the top 4.Hofgard's next competition will be on February 21 at Monarch high School.
