Working Smoke Detectors Save Homeowners
John Benson
Fire Chief
Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District
Emergency responders from the Lefthand Fire Protection District, Boulder Rural Fire Protection District, Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District, Boulder Emergency Squad and Boulder County Sheriffs Office responded to a structure fire at 1152 Valley Lane in Boulder on January 20th at 0638 hours.
The occupants of the home were alerted by alarming smoke detectors and took quick action that helped keep the fire from spreading to the remaining portions of the home. Fire crews arrived on scene to find flames coming out from the roof, walls and chimney area. A quick knock down and coordinated attack by firefighters kept the fire contained to the original fire area and prevented further extension into the home and forest area surrounding the home.
Extensive salvage and overhaul was made difficult due to the type of construction. Fire crews from the Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District remained on scene well into the afternoon to extinguish and monitor the area for any possible fire that may have lingered.
Thanks to working smoke detectors in the home, no injuries occurred to the residents or their pets. Additionally, no injuries were reported by the emergency agencies on scene.
At this time the fire is still under investigation.
