Lafayette, Colorado – In collaboration with the City of Lafayette, WOW! Children’s Museum is creating a Community Art Garden on the north side of the Museum’s exterior. The Community Art Garden will complement the recently installed garden-themed wall mural and will be an interactive space for families and community members to explore art, nature, and imaginative play together. This outdoor space will be open to everyone year round!
WOW! is asking our community for your ideas and creativity! In order to create two large art installations for the Art Garden, our artists Justin Deister and Adolfo Romero would like to know: “What Does Lafayette Mean to You?”
Children and families can answer this question by submitting drawings, paintings, photographs, videos, stories or poems. Share your favorite places, spaces, experiences, people or animals that are right here in Lafayette!
All submissions will be shared directly with our artists! To submit your ideas, email email@example.com with the subject line Community Art Garden. Please submit your creative ideas by Monday, May 18.
“We’re so proud to be a part of Lafayette’s vibrant, diverse community, and to be anchored in a city that cherishes public art. Even in difficult times, we can celebrate our city, our local plants and wildlife, and share our creativity. I’m really looking forward to the day where we can walk and play in this garden together!” said Joanna Cagan, Executive Director, WOW! Children’s Museum.
“City Council is proud to have provided funding in 2019 to help make this project happen,” said Lafayette Mayor Jamie Harkins. “Our art scene is one of the things that makes Lafayette great. The WOW! Community Art Garden is an excellent way for us to continue engaging the community with art and planting seeds of creativity.”
