Shape the Future of Erie’s Creative Scene: Join the CO-Create Erie Board!

Are you passionate about hands-on learning, local art, trade crafts, and building a stronger community? CO-Create Erie is gearing up to open a new makerspace in Erie, and we are looking for dedicated community leaders to join our Board of Directors! Two of our board members are stepping down, one due to welcoming a new baby and the other having a booming business and less time to commit to her board role.

As a non-profit makerspace, our mission is to provide an inclusive collaborative workshop environment where people of all skill levels can access specialty tools, learn new trades, and share their talents. To support our growth, we are seeking two passionate individuals to fill vital volunteer leadership roles.

Open Leadership Positions

  • Time Commitment: 5–10 hours per month (includes attending monthly board meetings on the 3rd Wednesday evening of each month).

  • The Role: The Secretary is the operational heartbeat of our board, ensuring our organization runs smoothly, stays organized, and remains fully compliant with legal and governance standards.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Record-Keeping & Meetings: Prepare meeting agendas, accurately document and distribute board minutes, and maintain attendance records.

    • Governance & Compliance: Keep bylaws up to date, partner with the Treasurer on annual state/federal filings, and maintain official legal records.

    • Communication: Manage official correspondence, notify members of key deadlines, and maintain organized archives.

    • Board Effectiveness: Assist with new board member orientation, organize annual meetings, and foster organizational transparency.

2. Resource Development Chair

  • Time Commitment: 15–20 hours per month (includes attending monthly board meetings on the 3rd Wednesday evening of each month).

  • The Role: The Resource Development Chair is a vital champion for CO-Create Erie’s growth, driving the financial and community support needed to keep our doors open and accessible to all.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Grant & Funding Research: Identify foundation, corporate, and government grant opportunities, while maintaining a tracking calendar for applications.

    • Corporate Sponsorships & Donors: Build relationships with local businesses for sponsorships and in-kind support, while overseeing donor recognition.

    • Community Partnerships: Connect with local schools, civic groups, and businesses to expand educational programs and community reach.

    • Fundraising Strategy: Collaborate with the board to diversify revenue streams, plan fundraising initiatives, and align funding with long-term goals.
