A "Culture of Respect" Grows Through Boulder and Fairview High School Basketball Programs

At the recent Fairview/Boulder crosstown basketball rivalry, the basketball programs of both schools put away their purple and red to wore orange in support of their schools' Culture of Respect Pledge. They have collected over 1000 signatures from their school communities in solidarity.

They did this to explain that…
"Because sexual harassment and sexual assault are prevalent in our society and…
Because these actions create a culture of intimidation, irresponsibility and fear… both programs join together to replace this rape culture with a “Culture of Respect” in which ALL people feel safe ANYWHERE and that ALL students can reach their goals and realize their dreams."
They committed to:
- "do our part to make all others feel respected and safe.
- treat ALL students, teachers & school staff with dignity, equality & respect.
- be aware of my language and the language around us.
- step off the sidelines and be part of the solution to harassment and assault.

Members of Zonta Foothills Club of Boulder County, the Boulder High PantherZ Z Club and the Flatirons Golden Z Club were on hand in their orange t-shirts taking pledges. This effort is all part of Zonta Says No! and international program to fight violence against women.
