Family Learning Center Soapbox Derby

Students from the Family Learning Center took their racing skills to street on Thursday, July 9 in a Soapbox Derby race in North Boulder. The Family Learning Center is a Boulder non-profit dedicated to encouraging successful lifelong learning and economic self-sufficiency for families of diverse cultures and limited incomes.

As part of the Soap Box Derby, six teams of students, ages 11-14, designed, built and raced their own Derby cars, while practicing leadership, teamwork and problem solving skills. This event is part of the Family Learning Center's Summer Academic and Entrepreneurial Program, and made possible through grants and in-kind donations from the Boedecker Foundation, Boulder Police Department, Boulder Valley School District, University of Colorado, private donations and other community organizations.
