Details: 42 feet wide and 13 feet high. 17 colors are used on more than 75,000 ceramic tiles

Dedication Ceremony: 1998
The ceremony was attended by descendants of Mary and Lafayette Miller as well as family members of the nine coal miners depicted in the work.

The mural was created from photographs of a 1940's mining crew, a coal tipple (used to empty coal from the carts), Mary & Lafayette Miller, and other images. Photos were chosen by the artist and the community with help from the Miners Museum.
