Colorado Remembers 911

In remembrance of this national tragedy, Colorado Governor Hickenlooper & Denver Mayor Hancock hosted a commemorative event and concert to honor the lives lost and pay tribute to first responders and members of the U.S. Armed Forces on September 11, 2011 at Civic Center Park in Denver from 1:00pm to 6:00pm. CAR members along with their families went to Denver to participate in this event. The event started with a procession that traveled from the steps of the capitol building to the large stage at the west side of Civic Center Park. Speeches were given by Colorado’s politicians including the Governor, Mayor, Senator Mark Udall, House of Representative Diana Degett and Secretary of State Ken Salazar. The Colorado Symphony Orchestra played music from all branches of the military which was very moving. On display was some of the twisted steel from the twin towers.
