Profile Information

About Me (optional):
restART studio is a CO nonprofit that is transforming the lives of justice-involved youth through the power of art therapy. Our mission is to harness the power of art therapy to help justice-involved youth understand their feelings & behavior and realize their potential.

restART studio understands that emphasis needs to be placed on encouraging youth to learn from their mistakes rather than punishing them for their learned maladaptive behaviors. We implement art therapy as a restorative and alternative practice to typical disciplinary actions that lead to criminal records and repeated incarceration.

The foundational therapeutic approaches of restART studio are designed to help youth recognize maladaptive behaviors and build healthy coping skills to manage life’s challenges. The participating youth will receive help to process difficult emotions, increase their ability to express their thoughts and feelings in healthy ways, and gain support in efforts to avoid returning to the same behaviors and social groups that got them into legal trouble.

The art therapy program will provide a safe space for youth to feel listened to and understood without judgment. It will give an opportunity for youth to grow from their struggles and open room for new understanding and self-love.
