Hi, Jeanine, I never heard back from you about the problem with new line characters getting eaten. Did you ever talk to your "web dude" about the problem?

Hi Jeanine,

I'm hoping you can publish our article about this exciting performance opportunity for high school musicians.

Thanks so much,
Ed Cannava

THE BIRTH OF THE DENVER JAZZ CLUB YOUTH ALL-STARS

The Denver Jazz Club is proud to announce that a traditional jazz youth all-star band is being created by recently retired public school music educator, Dr. Ed Cannava. Ed was the 22 year Director of Arapahoe High School's three time Downbeat award winning Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs. This is an exciting project, sponsored by the Denver Jazz Club and Flesher-Hinton Music Co. The band will be composed of high school musicians in the 9th through 12th grades. Auditions will take place in the near future. Ed is looking for Denver metropolitan area students who play clarinet, tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, banjo or guitar, piano, tuba or acoustic bass, and drums. Some jazz experience is preferred, but not necessary.

Professor Bill Clark, tuba player with the Queen City Jazz Band, will be a regular, monthly clinician. Additional professional jazz musicians will be doing clinics from time to time as well. Weekly rehearsals will take place at the Flesher-Hinton Music Store (3936 Tennyson St. in Denver), from 7 until 9 pm, each Sunday. Some holiday weekends and a few other Sundays may need to be skipped, however.

We plan on featuring this all star-band at the start of some monthly Denver Jazz Club sessions, possible professional jazz festivals, and performance gigs throughout the area. The Denver Jazz Club Youth All Stars only agree to do performances which do not conflict with school activities. Each selected student will be required to become a member of the Denver Jazz Club ($10). The monthly dues (4 weekly sessions) run $100, and are payable at the start of each month. Any money the band receives from paid gigs will reduce the next month's dues. The Denver Jazz Club does have financial assistance scholarships available for students who need them.

If you know a dedicated, hard-working high school musician, the Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars want to encourage you to contact Ed Cannava, at ecan11@msn.com or 303-328-7277.

Hi, Jeanine. I was wondering what criteria you use to decide what posts make it into the print version of the Daily Camera in the "Local Accomplishments" section. I posted something in Mytowncolorado about my daughter that (all bias aside :-)) seemed worthy of at least a mention, but nothing ever showed up. :-(

Thanks for your help.
