(BOULDER, Colo., November 13, 2018) –8z Real Estate is proud to announce that Lane Hornung, CEO and founder of 8z Real Estate, has been named one of Denver Business Journal's 2018 Most Admired CEOs.
Fifteen honorees were selected from over one hundred nominations for metro-area chief executives in the inaugural class of the Denver Business Journal's Most Admired CEOs. The nominees were judged by an independent panel and the Denver Business Journal’s editorial staff who considered CEOs’ contributions to company success, civic engagement, and career achievement, among other factors.
Hornung explained the significance of receiving this award, “It is an honor to be recognized in such a talented group of metro-Denver area business leaders from respected businesses in our community. As a founder and CEO, it’s rewarding to take a step back and see what the brokerage has accomplished. The brokerage is bigger than me with team leaders, support staff, and real estate agents living out the 8z core values, and working the company’s mission to fix real estate, by gaining the trust of their clients and putting clients first. I am humbled to receive this award, but this brokerage wouldn’t be what it is without the dedicated 8zers who have carried out my vision for 8z Real Estate.”
8z Real Estate agents have set themselves apart in the industry selling three times more homes annually than the industry average. The brokerage has also been recognized as the #1 rated brokerage in Colorado on Zillow, receiving over 2300 reviews and a five-star average on Zillow’s review platform, from clients who have bought or sold with an 8z agent.
As a former Marine Corps attack helicopter pilot, Hornung learned how to be part of a team of highly skilled professionals that work together for a common goal. While 8zers conduct their own business as standalone agents, the company and office cultures are one of collegiality and teamwork. An 8z office team will support each other with mentorship or lend their expertise so that each 8zer can better serve their clients.
8z’s company culture has also been recognized with awards from The Denver Post’s Top Workplaces rankings, and Entrepreneur.com’s Top Company Culture list. As a graduate student, Hornung worked as a research assistant for acclaimed author Jim Collins on the book Good to Great. Through this experience, Hornung learned what makes a great company stand apart. This experience shaped 8z’s core values which haven't changed since the company was founded and guide every decision made at 8z to this day.
This year's Most Admired CEOs will be recognized at an awards reception hosted by the Denver Business Journal on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the Denver Marriott Tech Center, and a special section in the Denver Business Journal on November 16th.
