This past weekend, Boulder based bluegrass band Bowregard took first place in the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest. They were selected out of hundreds of interested bands from around the country to play in a preliminary round of 12 bands and became 1 of 4 bands to make it to the finals where they performed for a panel of judges on the Main Stage at the festival this past weekend. At the end of the finals, they came out on top and won $750, a set on the Main Stage at Telluride Bluegrass Festival in 2020 and an EP recording package from eTown Hall and mastering from Airshow Boulder. Past winners of the contest include The Dixie Chicks, Greensky Bluegrass, Front Country and many more well known bands.
Bowregard consists of Max Kabat (guitar, vocals), James Armington (banjo, vocals), Colleen Heine (fiddle, vocals), Zach Smith (upright bass, vocals) and Justin Konrad (resophonic guitar).
