Boulder, CO.
My dog Cody is currently competing in Colossal’s America’s Favorite Pet competition, a nationwide campaign raising funds and awareness for PAWS (Progressive Animal Welfare Society). PAWS helps shelter dogs and cats find their human companions or preserve natural habitats so that wild animals can continue to thrive.

Cody is also under the care of Dr. Caitlan Cowan at Blue Pearl Animal Hospital in Lafayette for a hemangiosarcoma and he is doing great!
As a dog and animal/nature lover, I’m passionate about giving animals the loving home they deserve. I have fostered dogs for National Puppy Mill Rescue near Colorado Springs, adopted from Poodle Rescue of the Rockies in Lakewood, and my current pup is a rescue through the Boulder Humane Society.
Through this competition, we have the opportunity to bring awareness to the thousands of homeless dogs and cats that deserve loving companions and safe homes. This experience has been incredibly meaningful because Cody was once a homeless 5-mongh-old flea infested, matted puppy in Puerta Villarta, Mexico who was saved by a kind woman from Boulder. She cleaned him up and brought him to the Boulder Humane Society the same day that I felt compelled to go find a little white dog there. He had just been dropped off. It was love at first sight.
I know how much Coloradans, especially the Boulderites who I meet on trails, love to adopt from shelters.
In early December Cody was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer known as hemangiosarcoma. Through recommendations, I found Dr. Cowan at Blue Pet Animal Hospital, an oncologist very familiar with how aggressive this cancer can be. She got us into radiation the very next day. Cody has been receiving chemotherapy weekly along with two medicines and two supplements and is faring very well. Back to his usual self, barking to protect his home and people, sniffing every scent he notices on walks. Every day is such a gift with him.
When Cody wins (thinking positive here), the $10,000 prize will help pay for the tests and ongoing treatments. He will receive two more chemotherapy infusions and then be on supplements and checked by Dr. Cowan every three months.
