Colorado Town Rallies Around Miracle Cow
Dec. 15, 2021 – The baby’s mother was raised for slaughter on a ranch in Arizona, and with her unborn calf still inside her womb, she was attacked and killed by wolves. Miraculously, her calf survived, and was born “Lucky.”
After the death of his mother, Lucky was placed completely alone on a property in Lyons, Colorado, destined for slaughter in November 2021. His pasture was adjacent to a popular walking path, and he soon garnered the attention of many human passersby. Like a dog, Lucky would run the length of the fence, begging for affection.
People began to flock to the walking path just to visit Lucky. They would stay with him for hours, offering him love, nose scratches, and hugs. Soon, everyone was so attached to this sweet boy, they began to dread his slaughter date. The community of Lyons came together to save Lucky’s life, and brought him to Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary in Erie, Colorado, to live forever.
During the month of December, Luvin Arms is campaigning for Lucky’s health and lifelong well-being. Each compassionate gift this month will be matched, doubling the benevolent impact on Lucky’s life and all the rescued farmed animals at Luvin Arms. The campaign also includes an inspirational film by Luvin Arms’ talented videographer, John Burton, who documented Lucky’s journey from traumatic beginnings to forever safe haven at Luvin Arms.
“We can only rescue abused and neglected farmed animals, care for our residents, and inspire others to embrace a more compassionate lifestyle with your help,” said Executive Director, Shartrina White. “It is our moral obligation and honor to give the best care to these animals that have already endured unfathomable abuse. Together, we can stop this cycle of abuse of farmed animals, and make this world a more compassionate place.”
Luvin Arms is a nonprofit animal sanctuary for abused and neglected farmed animals, based in Erie, Colorado. Luvin Arms is working to provide exceptional lifelong social, emotional, and cognitive care for their animal residents, and to advocate for those who have not been rescued by sharing their residents’ stories to inspire, educate, and empower others to embrace a more compassionate and sustainable lifestyle.
