Ecotech Institute to Host Green Jobs Open House with Panel of Industry Experts


Ecotech Institute, the first and only college focused entirely on preparing America’s workforce for careers in renewable energy and sustainable design, will host an open house on Tuesday, August 24 at 6:30 p.m. The open house will feature an impressive panel of guest speakers to discuss the booming green industry and how to obtain and prepare for careers in the cleantech sector.


Potential and current Ecotech Institute students will gather to listen to the discussion and participate in a Q&A session. Ecotech’s first class of students boasts an almost perfect attendance rate, proving their dedication to preparing for future green careers. The open house will not only feature the guest speakers, but also allow potential students to meet faculty, staff and current students.

The Ecotech Institute panel of expert speakers will include:

• Christine Shapard, Executive Director of the Colorado Cleantech Industry Association

• Dr. Abbas Ghassemi, Director of the Institute for Energy and Environment (IE&E) and professor of Chemical Engineering at New Mexico State University

• Glenn Wilson, Academic Dean at Ecotech Institute

• Alison Wise, Director of Career Services at Ecotech Institute (moderator)

Ecotech Institute, which is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, began classes on July 7, 2010, with seven highly practical degree programs and one certificate program that provide graduates with skills that are highly valued by today’s renewable energy employers, including:

• Energy and Environmental Paralegal, Associate of Applied Science
• Energy Efficiency, Associate of Applied Science
