Educators Encouraged to Sign Up for Colorado Proud School Meal Day

Colorado Proud, along with the Colorado Department of Agriculture and Colorado Department of Education, is inviting every Colorado school to participate in the annual Colorado Proud School Meal Day on Oct. 1, 2024. Interested schools can sign up by registering online before Sept. 20, 2024.

Held annually during National Farm to School Month, the Colorado Proud School Meal Day celebrates Colorado agriculture and helps preschool and K-12 students understand more about where their food comes from and the diverse products grown, raised, and made right in our state. Each year, more than 100,000 students statewide learn about agriculture in classrooms, eat school lunches made with local ingredients, and talk about healthy eating, innovation, farming, ranching, and even their own roles in the local food movement.

“It’s important for Coloradans to learn about how and where their food is grown and the role it plays in their everyday lives,” said Danielle Trotta, Colorado Proud program manager. “Our goal is to foster a connection between young consumers and how they view Colorado’s long, rich agricultural history, while also encouraging healthy eating habits in a creative way.”

How Schools Can Participate

Colorado Proud has an abundance of resources and ways for teachers and administrators to participate. Schools should sign up using an online form and can contact Danielle Trotta with any questions.
