"MacBeth Did It" Teenagers on stage at LTC

Longmont Theatre Company’s Youth Theatre is proud to announce its first ever youth theatre production. For its first ever production the company will be putting on a production of ‘MacBeth Did It’ by John Patrick.
How is this different from other youth theatre shows? Unlike the youth theatre summer workshops or 24 hour one act festivals, students had to audition and were not guranteed a part in the show. The cast and crew are also putting on the show on a volunteer basis. Just like a normal show at LTC.
Gathering experience before tackling the "Big Time" in New York, director Larry Rencher (played by Matt Barham) has decided to undertake "Macbeth," drawing oh his faithful & generally hammy cadre of local theatre buffs. The role of Lady Macbeth is assigned to Dolly Dibble (played by Tori Young) whose husband owns the theatre with the other parts being parceled out with similar logic. As rehearsals begin, so do the hilarious complications & misunderstandings until, harried & out of patience, the director storms off in a huff-leaving maters in the hands of the meddlesome newcomer whose "suggestions" have been a thorn in his side. As they will, things then go from bad to worse, until the director is wooed into returning & despite the fact that Dolly's tipsy husband gets his head stuck in the witches' cauldron somehow everything gets pulled together in time for the fateful moment of opening night.
Performances will be August 7-9, 2009. Tickets are $10, and are avaible on the web and at the door. “This is what happens when Shakespeare & Community Theatre.”
