Hi,
My name is Julia Misawa, Executive art director / Instructor of Boulder Taiko HIBIKI, a traditional Japanese drum group. I began my Taiko studies when I was studying International Business, Graphic Design and Web Design at College. I've studied Taiko for nine years under the guidance of Taiko Master Seiichi Tanaka. It was Sensei Tanaka who first brought Taiko to the U.S. in 1968, and formed a first performing group when he founded the San Francisco Taiko Dojo. As part of the professional team at this dojo, I traveled throughout the United States. Some memorable experiences included performing at Carnegie Hall and recording a DVD at studios owned by George Lucas.
I founded Boulder Taiko HIBIKI in January 2006. Already our dynamic young group has performed at cultural and community events along the Colorado Front Range. I also conducted workshops for schools and churches. I continue in Boulder county my commitment to teaching Taiko to children and adults.

Thank you for the mail. We have three events, and few tentative ones in May 2008. Here is a list of events.
Friday, 5/9 CU graduation for a Geography department. 10:45am - 11:10am - We won't be playing to protect drums if it rains since it is held outside in front of the Geography department. If you're interested, let us know. I would have to ask someone to get a permission to shoot a film.
Saturday, 5/17 in Superior 40 min. performance- I'll let you know more details by this weekend.
Saturday, 5/24 Boulder Creek Festival approximately 11:15-11:45am- We'll be playing 10 min. for swordsmanship, and 10 min. for our own group in front of Boulder Library, at a dance stage. Thanks.
We are absolutely interested in your performance information. Please also keep Fireside Production in mind should you ever wish to create a promotional video or capture one of your events. Enjoy your week!
Milestones are back up! You can submit and view engagements, wedding, anniversaries and birth announcements at DailyCamera.com. Obituaries can also be found at DailyCamera.com at dailycamera.com/obits.
