Boulder Public Library patrons will be able to reserve a public computer for a specific block of time per day starting later this month. The system is expected to go into effect at the George Reynolds Branch Library on Tuesday, May 13; at the Meadows Branch Library on Friday, May 16; and at the Main Library on Tuesday, May 27. This new reservation system is being established in order to make the popular, public computers available in an equitable, predictable manner. The computers are heavily used and by reserving a computer for a designated time period, users are assured of having a computer available at a requested time.
Reservations can be made at any of the branches for the current day only. A receipt with date, reservation time and computer location is printed when a patron places a reservation. Patrons can reserve a 20-minute, one-hour or two-hour session, with a maximum daily reservation allowance of six hours. For the first five minutes that the library is open, users may walk up to any available computer, make a reservation and begin to use it.
A Boulder Public Library card is needed in order to make the reservation. To obtain a card, bring a photo identification and proof of current address. No reservations are necessary for the “Library Catalog Only” computers.
Additionally, the system will include print management software that gives patrons better control of their print output.
