Momma Great Horned Owl proudly looks out over her nest. She had just fed her three babies and herself with parts of a rabbit that she had caught. She's an excellent hunter and mom, staying nearby to keep an ever watchful eye on the nest and her little ones. These babies are getting bigger and as night falls, they become active, flapping their wings and hopping about in the nest Within a week or two they will fledge the nest, but momma will still keep feeding them until they're ready to fend for themselves.

I use a Sony A9 camera with a Sony 200-600mm lens. If I need it, I also have a 1.4x extender, which brings it to 840mm. But for this pic I didn't need it. The pic was taken in Louisville.
