An Ironic Twist

Just as I join "My Town Colorado" and begin to take part in community camaraderie, I find myself in a situation of having promised to move back to Dallas as part of a promotion package. Now the question is, "What to do?"  The promotion was definitely one I could not pass up, and will be an excellent career stepping stone.  But the prospect of moving back to Dallas after almost 15 years in Colorado does not really appeal to me.  That has been highlighted over the past two months as I…

Gas Mask Training for MMA - Advanced Training

If you pass our studio or come in early, you may see a pretty funny (or creepy) picture: a few guys training in gas masks. Don’t worry, there is no spill and nobody is in danger. We are simply putting ourselves to the test doing gasmask training!

The whole idea behind gasmask training is to get in better shape by improving your longue function. For example when athletes train at high altitude, one of the reasons Boulder is so popular with elite athletes all over the world and why…

Crime in Boulder and Colorado

In this article, I would like to discuss some numbers and statistics. I personally like to be aware of these and compare them to other locations and simply reflect upon them. Helping people stay safe is truly important to us and that is why we chose to put together the most effective curriculum, so our clients learn things that they can actually use in a crisis situation. In the end, a martial art that is not effective in real self defense will simply not help you when you need it. All… Continue

changing genres

From Eugenia Price and novels set in 19th century northern Florida and southern Georgia to T. Jefferson Parker and southern California and Mexico --- my reading routine has taken a distinct turn. After reading an in-depth article on T Jefferson Parker and his works, I became curious and picked up a copy of his latest crime thriller: Border Lords.

Set largely in that dangerous area between Mexico and the US, I find myself caught up in the plot as Parker sets it up. One has to…

Boulder Hiking Trail Pictures

I have documented 18 Boulder hiking trails on a website. The pictures are tied to Google Maps and provide a good idea of what each of the trails look like and scenes from the trails. There is also a slideshow mode so that you can get a visual idea of what going up and down each trail is like. The website is www.viewbouldertrails.com. The website uses Flash, so not every device is supported at this time.
