Boulder Police Department Gets Special Delivery

Local businesswomen Katie Lorsbach and Lauren Hughes hosted an appreciation event for over 100 members of the Boulder Police Department last month. Lorsbach, a financial representative with COUNTRY Financial and Hughes, a local Realtor on the Fletcher Team with EXP Realty, hired local restaurant McDevitt Taco Supply to drive a taco truck to Boulder Police Department and set up a full taco bar on recent sunny January afternoon.

“My brother-in-law is a police officer and I see how these men and women go above and beyond every day to protect and support our local community,” said Lorsbach. “I wanted to do something to show my appreciation and have an opportunity to thank them personally.  Tacos are a crowd pleaser so I thought this would be fun. Chief Maris Herold and her entire department were so gracious and welcoming,  I look forward to doing something for them again in the future.”

A program from COUNTRY Financial called Operation Helping Heroes helped Lorsbach make this happen. Through the program, COUNTRY Financial representatives can identify heroes in their communities and do something personal to give back.

Hughes also has a personal connection to these men and women that inspired her to get involved in hosting the event. Hughes was lucky to have survived the Marshall Fire but sadly, she lost her home and car. The Boulder Police Department was actively involved in evacuating her and more than 30,000 others.

“I wanted to offer a heartfelt thank you to all of the Boulder Police Officers and First Responders that were involved in helping to keep us safe,” said Hughes.

Later, the program expanded to include first responders and teachers.
