Incredibly, there are 30 different venues to house all the Olympic venues. Each is tailored to its' specific sport be it fencing, softball, basketball, etc. Contrary to popular belief, they are not all in the Olympic Village. The venues are scattered mostly in the northern outskirts of the city. It can be quite a challenge getting there, as not even the taxi drivers know exactly where they all are. Fortunately, I was able to snag a special Olympic map…

The new airport in Beijing is as impressive as everyone says. The new terminal 3 is as large as DIA. Beyond the airport, the whole city is Olympics crazed with banners, and signs everywhere. Many people are dressed to the max with Olympic wear. My evening was spent on Tieniman Square. The gate of the square has large Olympic theme diplays. It has become a large gathering place for in and out of towners. Most people were going picture crazy taking photos of friend and family members in front of…

OK, what’s the big fuss? I thought, as I sat there at a stop light with a motorcycle policeman looking directly into my rear-view mirror and therefore my eyes.
I was about to find out.
Sure enough, as soon as the light turned green, on went his lights and siren.
“Great,” I muttered to myself.
He casually followed me as I changed into the right-hand lane and turned into a bank parking lot, pulling up behind me as I searched for my insurance card and registration.
As he…

Whenever I travel internationally, I always like to have most of my logistics figured out before arrival. This leaves for more time touring and exploring. Frequently, I visit Europe that has become very easy for international travelers. China, on the other hand, is going to be a bit more challenging. Here is what I’m going to prepare.
Money
Even the latest guidebooks on Beijing say western credit cards are generally not accepted at local merchants and ATM’s. Starting off…

In late June, I was invited to a photography seminar at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The weeklong visit allowed the opportunity for professionals and "pro-amateurs" to perfect our sport photography technique by photographing some the USA's best athletes. This jarred my enthusiasm to attend the Olympics in person.
Admittedly, my travel arrangements seemed last minute with the event less than 8 weeks away. However a fellow photographer I met at the seminar and I…

Earlier this year, the Boulder Cuba Sister City Organization collaborated with Project C.U.R.E. to deliver three 40-foot containers of medical equipment and supplies to hospitals in Cuba’s Guantánamo Province. The last delivery arrived in May. The Sister City Organization would like to thank their community supporters for donations that made these shipments possible. These deliveries followed equipment sent in 2004 from Boulder Community Hospital. The items were donated when the hospital…

ok, so I have started (or have I) an online parents group. I hope that people will join. I have invited quite a few. I want this area to be a safe space, without judgement, or anger. I don't know how well this will work out but hopefully it will go well.
Just ate dinner...starting to feel sleepy. =)

Conserving water by remodeling residential or commercial property landscape to be more efficient with water use is not a wrong thing to…

Today, the Phillies played the Mariners in a Monarch Little League matchup at Cleo West field in Louisville. The game started out close and remained that way for the duration of play - a perfect match. At the end of it all, the Mariners came out the winners by only 2 runs.
It was a fun game for both sides, and both teams played great defense and offense. Interestingly, the umpires cracked down a
lot more than usual on players leaving to steal a base before the…
